BANGOR - American Indian music and dance from the Pacific Northwest, Greek cabaret-style performers, classic rhythm and blues, Creole-style jazz and gypsy and flamenco dance represent some of the new acts that have been added to the lineup for this summer's American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront.

During a news conference Thursday at City Hall, festival organizers announced recent additions to the list of performers who will entertain and educate the more than 100,000 people expected to attend this year's festival.

Modeled after the National Folk Festival, which last August completed a three-year run here, the American Folk Festival is set for Aug. 26-28 at Bangor Waterfront.

Like the National, the American Folk Festival will feature music, dance and storytelling spread over five stages on the waterfront, as well as exhibits and demonstrations of Maine's traditional crafts. Thirty-one food vendors, 44 craft vendors and a children's area will also be part of the Bangor event.
