(noticia) Flamenco Guitarist Vicente Amigo to perfom in Chicago
Symphony Center will present one of Spain’s most celebrated flamenco guitarists, Vicente Amigo, in a special concert on Tuesday, February 7 at 8 p.m. This performance is part of the Instituto Cervantes de Chicago’s Flamenco 2006 annual festival and marks Mr. Amigo’s first performance at Symphony Center since he made his Chicago debut there in 2002.
Born in Córdoba, Spain, Mr. Amigo began playing the guitar at the age of eight. He studied with such legendary performers as Juan Munoz, Merengue de Cordoba, Paco Peña, Manolo Sanlucar, and Camaron de La Isla. In 1991, Mr. Amigo shared the stage with flamenco master Paco de Lucía in a breakthrough performance at the international guitar festival “Leyendas de la Guitarra” in Seville. That festival also saw him perform with such guitar greats as Bob Dylan, Keith Richards, Phil Manzanera, Joe Cocker, Jack Bruce, and Richard Thompson. Since then, Vicente Amigo has toured extensively in Europe, the Far East, to Cuba, Morocco, and Tunisia.
