Rae Bosio, a Spanish teacher at Raymond Park Middle School, has received an $8,000 Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship to bring flamenco dancing to her sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.

This summer, Bosio will fly to Seville, Spain, to study at the Taller De Flamenco School.
Bailar -- to dance -- is one of the first verbs Spanish students learn. Instead of stopping at verb conjugations, however, Bosio intends to involve her students in a more hands-on approach to learning the culture and words of Spain.
To extend the activity, Bosio will also offer an after-school club next school year that will not only teach flamenco dancing but incorporate cooking to bring the Spanish experience to all of the senses.
