You've got to hand it to Village Theatre Waterdown. Who else would tackle Lorca's masterwork Blood Wedding? It's a tough, rangy piece of theatre replete with poetry, flamenco and white hot ferocity. It's also a tough nut to crack.
Director Mike Rae and his design team have created a visually arresting production of Lorca's play that is more successful in its vision than it is in its execution.
Rae's set is a wonder. A great white womb of a thing surrounded by tormented, tangled trees, it creates a stunning visual metaphor for the playwright's fearful world.
