Parramatta celebrates NAIDOC Week (National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Celebration) with a huge line up of music, dance, visual art, film, performance, storytelling, workshops, kids activities and displays.

The entertainment is in line with this year’s theme for NAIDOC Week 2005: Our Future Begins with Solidarity.

Celebrations begin with the Sydney Indigenous Arts Festival embraces the rich diversity of Indigenous culture. The entertainment line up confirmed for 2005 are expected to draw crowds from Sydney and afar.

Well known performer and Comedian Sean Choolburra is the official MC who will open the event on Friday 1 st July at the Parramatta Riverside Theatres. The evening will begin with a traditional welcome to Country ceremony. Special guests at the Official opening include Winsome Mathews, Chairperson Aboriginal Justice Advisory Council and Megan Wilding, Aboriginal Youth representative.

The official opening will be celebrated through dance by widely acclaimed dance troupe Desendance, who explore multicultural themes and explore the hybrid fusion of gypsy flamenco with traditional aboriginal music and dance.
