Rafael Amargo lost love in Barcelona, but the Spanish dancer and choreographer found something that helped him get over the hurt: the inspiration for his flamenco extravaganza "Enramblao."

"It's a tribute to La Rambla, a trendy street in central Barcelona, and to the people I met there," Amargo said through an interpreter in an interview in Tokyo ahead of the show's Japan tour.

Since beginning life as an introductory segment that segued into the classical flamenco piece "El Amor Brujo," the show has evolved into a full-length production. It's a series of 10 vignettes bookended with music by Paco Ortega from the soundtrack to 1999 film "Sobrevivire."
