The birthplace of flamenco is bringing a taste of Spanish "soul" to eleven U.S. and Canadian cities for a three-week dance and music extravaganza January 28 to February 19. Sponsored by the region of Andalusia and presented by Flamenco Festival Inc., Flamenco Festival 2006 will feature more than 100 dancers, singers and guitarists in performances ranging from flamenco puro to contemporary innovations at various venues in New York, Purchase, N.Y., Princeton, N.J., Boston, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Miami, Portland, San Luis Obispo, Montreal and Vancouver.
A sweepstakes will provide one lucky winner with a free trip for two to this area in southern Spain. New Yorkers will have an opportunity to sample the region's renowned cuisine during Andalusian Food Week, February 7 to 14. Officials at Turismo Andaluz are hoping that this taste of Andalusia will spur more Americans to visit.
