The best music festivals revel in a sense of discovery, welcoming listeners into the unfamiliar.

By that measure, the ongoing Flamenco 2006 is shaping up as a significant event, with two of this week's attractions proving revelatory in concert.

On Tuesday night in Symphony Center, flamenco guitarist Vicente Amigo offered a level of technical virtuosity and musical fluidity that rarely coincide in a single performer. Though his work—and that of his ensemble—was over-amplified, the essential delicacy of this music could not be denied.
