The power of live music versus recorded, or dead music, is a constant discussion in the dance world. Modern choreographer Mark Morris would probably eat rat poison before he'd succumb to canned music. And people went nuts when the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater gave in to recorded music to cut costs. Locally, there are very few productions staged with live music, and that's a shame, because live music makes all the difference.
