BY EMILIANA SANDOVAL

She's a native of Argentina, and has a slight Spanish lilt in her voice. Her mom worked for GM in Buenos Aires, then in New York City, then Detroit.

Schaefer studied computer science at Queens College in New York and Madonna University in Livonia, where she lives. She left GM last year, and she's doing contract work in information technology at Ford.

Her husband, Mike Edelman, also works in IT. She has a son, a daughter, two stepdaughters and a step-grandchild.

LOVES TO DANCE

"I grew up studying all kinds of dance forms," she said. "When I visited Spain, I saw flamenco and said, 'That's it. That's what I want to do.' "
