(noticia) Open house for dancers

Repertory Dance Theatre invites community members to try Community School classes at an open house Saturday, Jan. 6, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South, Salt Lake City.
Available classes include a new basic modern class, as well as African, modern technique, hip-hop, ballroom and flamenco. The event is open to those age 16 and older. For a full schedule, visit www.rdtutah.org/classes.

Flamenco I
Beginning

Thursday 5:45 pm - 7:15 pm
Instructor Solange Gomes

An introduction to Flamenco. Intricate arm movements & rapid footwork characterize this romantic Spanish dance. Shoes with a medium heel required.

Flamenco II
Intermediate/Advanced

Wednesday 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Instructor Solange Gomes

Expand your expression and style in the Flamenco folk dance. This course builds on RDT's Flamenco I. Shoes with a medium heel and skirts (for women) required.

SOLANGE GOMES

Solange Gomes was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she received her fine arts training to become a dancer and instructor. She attended the Royal Ballet Academy as a child and then went on to study several contemporary dance techniques. Currently, Solange is the "Pasion Flamenca" artistic director and choreographer, co-directs the "Tablado Dance Company" with Jim Moreno, is part of the Repertory Dance Theatre Community School where she serves as an instructor and choreographer; and is on the faculty of Weber State University (Performing Arts Department).
