(enlace) FROM 14 TO 17 JUNE: FLAMENCO FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Today’s best artists collect funds for Nicaragua

On Monday 14 June the fifth Flamenco Pa’ Tos (Flamenco for Everybody) Festival gets underway. It is organised annually by the Gomaespuma Foundation, with the goal of bringing flamenco closer to the younger generations, and to attract the knowledgeable enthusiasts to an irresistible programme of performances. As an appetiser, Tomatito, Diego El Cigala and the bailaora (flamenco dancer) Rocío Molina will open the festival. The funds that are collected will be given to the Gomaespuma school in Nicaragua.

The Gomaespuma Foundation was established by two Spanish journalists, lovers of flamenco, who used their radio programme to collect toys, food, sunglasses and anything that may be needed in the poorest countries. From this solidarity project, and from its promoters’ passion for flamenco, the Flamenco Pa’ Tos Festival, a week of flamenco in which artists perform altruistically for a good cause, was born.
