Top flamenco singer José Mercé will be performing at La Linea de la Concepcion's Palacio de Congresos on Saturday, 27th January, 2007 at 21:30h. Tickets: Advance sales - 15€, 20€ on the door.

José Mercé, born José Soto Soto in Jerez de la Frontera in 1955, and a member of a great dynasty of flamenco singers, started his singing career at the age of six as a choirboy at the Basilica de la Merced from where he took his stage name.

By the age of twelve his choral passion was replaced with the urge to sing flamenco, and he debuted in Manuel Morao’s ‘Los Jueves Flamencos’. Shortly afterwards José Mercé was asked to join the cuadro at La Cueva del Pájaro Azul, the Cádiz tablao where Rancapino, Pepa de Utrera and Juan Villar were working.
